There are two surface installation techniques: 1) spray surface 2) Handcast surface
1)Spray surface means that the surface layer is installed by mixing PU with EPDM rubber granules and then spray onto the cushion layer by a spay machine.
2)Handcast surface or known as broadcast surface is carried out by firstly paving the two component PU and then spreading the EPDM rubber granules onto the PU.
Features:
The base mate of sandwich running track is popularly made of black SBR rubber crumb. After base mat is cured, the open textured mat is grouted or sealed with a layer of PU resin mixed with very fine rubber crumb, and then a cast elastomer layer is applied as the top surface or EPDM spray surface layer is applied as the top wear resistant layer. The appearance of the finished facility is exactly as for a full Pu “solid” system, but the surface is obviously not as expensive as the full Pu type because it utilizes less polyurethane.
Sandwich Running Track Layer Structure
Installation Process:
The installation of the base mat is controlled by the screed bar of the paving machine. Base mat pressed and heated by the paving machine will become compacted and flat. And then the base mat is sealed by PU with fine rubber crumb. After that, the self leveling PU is paved and EPDM rubber granuless are broadcast onto the PU to cure. Following cure, the excess surfacing granules are removed.
In terms of spray surface, the surface texture is formed by spraying the mixture of the coloured EPDM rubber granules and PU resins with a high pressure spray machine. By spraying, the surface of the track is more wear resistant compared to handcast surface.
Sandwich Running Track
Introduction:
Sandwich rubber running track, also known as tartan running track, or double-decker/composite system running track is formed from a base mat of resin-bound rubber crumb of 9 to 10mm of thickness. The base mat is then sealed with PU mixed with fine rubber crumb. Then comes to the handcast EPDM surface or spray surface.
The durability of sandwich rubber running track lies in between that of the two other in-situ systems: full PU system and spray coat system. The performance of the surface is similar to that of the full PU except that the force reduction and the vertical deformation would tend to be slightly higher than the full Pu running track.
